I did a rear main seal on a camry once, I ended up pulling the engine and tranny out together. Had the job done and car running in a day.If it was a rear wheel drive i would drop the box off and leave the engine in.
can anyone point me in the direction of some info into weather its possible to change the clutch on a 205 gt4 without removing the engine?,,,thanks,,,

its 4wd dude,,,and the problem is quite specific to gt4s,,,thanx anyway,,;-)
General consensus is that it CAN be done...but it's more mucking around than dropping it all together.
After doing over 100 of these simply drop the engine, the box will come out reletivley easily but wont go back very nicely at all.
I find the easiest method in an ST205 is to drop the complete motor, box, engine cross members, suspension and steering as one unit, complete the repairs, then reinstall by bolting up the strut hats first - this helps position everything else to make it a straight forward job.
OK thanks everyone,,thought as much,,will drop the box and motor out tomorrow,,best ask the owner when the cam belt was last done,,,i think alot of garages in the UK like doing things the hard way,,gives us something to complain about down the pub,,,;-)
the timing belt is an absolute shit of a job in-car - am always stunned to hear folks even considering doing it that way.
THere is a fairly good writeup over on ozcelica.
