    Default aw11 c56 conversion help!

    hello.

as i have a 20v BT on the way from japan, i am thinking the E51 ratios are not going to suit the new engine, not to mention the extra weight, and am wanting to fit a c56(yes i am aware that the selector is on the other side) .will the drive shafts from the e51 fit the c56 tansmission?

    cheers

Sorry my bad this was a c160 NOT the 56 sorry, dont know if they are even remotely the same ???????? do you ??????????

good things about e series boxes

    thaey are just about indestructible

they have good ratios for boosted engines

    Good availability of LSDs

oh if the only problem is the shift lingage being on the back not the front so to speak then just get longer shift cables, that what i have in mine with the E 58 work a TREAT 1

    BAd things about e series

    heavy as all sin

    break speedo drives regularly

    shitty ratios for a 20 V

if you want to use a c56 You could possibly pull the box appart and use the selectors out of the AW11 C52, then they will sit the right side. from memory they do this when converting a corolla C52 to use in an AW11.

I would think that would would need some AW11 NA shafts to suit this as they would more likely match the C series, I dare say the E series driveshafts would not be suitable, you would have to mix and match ends.

You may have to look into that my memory is a little hazy I really cant remember if you can just turn the selectors around or whether you need a whole differant selector assembly

sorry I can't be more help
