The hydro fan will shit on the clutch fan in terms of performance, but its obviously a lot harder to install into another car, and adds a fair bit of complexity as well as more points of failure.
I'm not sure if the electrical system is completely seperate, but I doubt it.
There is a solenoid on the pump which will be part of the engine loom, and a sensor on the radiator which will be part of the body loom.
The other things it looks at are the AC on input, AC pressure switch, and IDL contact on the TPS.
If the car is going to be used as a daily and have working aircon, and the aircon used a lot in traffic/etc, I'd personally put the effort in and reuse the hydro fan (order all new hoses and seals for it).
