    Default 2JZ-ge vvt-i into MX83 HELP

Guys, have fitted engine & auto trans from 2002? is300 around 80,000ks into an MX 83 Cressida, but cannot get it to start.

There is no spark or injector pulse when cranking.

The injectors can be triggered from the ECU, so we know they work.

If I remove the crank angle sensor & wave an open end spanner backwards & forwards over it, the plugs spark reliably.

We have swapped crank angle sensor, cam angle sensor, checked power to the coil packs, injectors and ignitor, AFM,and ECU.

Checked the trigger wheel on the crank & all seems to be ok.

Have bi-passed the ignition switch, but can only get one spark from the plugs when cranking.

It's looking like the ECU might have some anti-theft/ immobiliser built in that needs to be disabled.

Really need some help with this guys, we've run out of things to try.

If anyone has an idea, or can point us to someone who may know there way around Lexus wiring it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Garry.

    Cars in Brisbane.

Kev Rowley did the wiring for us. He'd done a 1J conversion that worked beautifully, but it was all Toyota.

You're right about the key reader, immobiliser & key.

    Didn't even think about it.

The engine & trans came from a wreck sitting in a farm yard down the coast, so I'm not sure if its still there or gone to the tip.
The guy had bought it for the leather interior.

Any way to bi-pass the security in the ECU?

no easy way to bypass security

see if u can get the missing bits
or if u want to bring it down to yatala i can get it running for a price
otherwise take it back to ken since he started the job he should research and finish it

    +1 for dumbass
I was once surprised with one customer's 2JZ. Turned out the engine was off IS300 and it had immobilizer.

To tell if there's immo or not, read error codes (TC to E1, see warning light flashing). If there's code 99 among others, then it's immobilized.

So far, the easiest way around immo that I figured out is emulator (they are normally installed by car alarm guys for those who want remote start option). The alarm guys are likely to know how to install and program ECU to accept the emulator.

p/s fyi, you don't need key, amplifier and antenna off exactly IS300. All toyotas from 1998 to ~2003 (even some newer JDM models like st246 caldina) use the same system. The parts only differ in dimensions and mounting, but regarding wiring/immo functions they are the same.

U won't find many smart alarm guys in this country

U can use any similar key reader but u need matching key
Or stuff to reprogram key to ecu immob chip

sounds like the emulator between the immo and ecu is best way.
