    Default Deleted Tech Threads?

    Hi,

Help! My Tech Section thread seems to be deleted?
If it was in the Tech Section and was not given a proper subject title then it probably has been.

    Why?
Because the Tech Section holds all the best information and having a properly named title, which reflects the vehicle/engine/component (when required) that you are asking about, makes searching much easier for our users. There is a sticky at the top of the Tech Section which explains why we like these threads to be named properly.

Can't you just rename if for me?
We used to do that, but it's become tiresome now. Why should the mods have to rename your thread because you did not name it properly in the first place?

Can you just move it to the General Car Section?
We could, but it's the same amount of effort for us to move it to the Deleted folder. Moving these threads to any section other than Deleted doesn't enforce people to name Tech threads properly. However, losing a thread may have a bigger impact.

    This is harsh!
Not really. It's a small thing we ask that is very easy to do when creating your thread and, as mentioned, makes searching for information a lot easier.

People may miss out on good tech information
It depends on the thread. A title like "Help" means little, where a title (for example) of "Help with 1JZ that stalls when warm" is so much more descriptive and saves people from having to go into the thread and pull out information.

    But there's a search facility
Yes there is, but it is much easier to go to the Tech Section and see the thread titles and know what someone is saying or asking.

Can I get my deleted thread back?
Yes, it is possible. But the intent is not to delete threads and then spend more time getting them back and renaming them properly. We'd just appreciate it if you can name your threads appropriately when creating them in the Tech Section... please.

I am outraged and will complain!
Toymods wouldn't be Toymods without healthy debate and discussion over many issues, including decisions on how the forum is run. You are welcomed to reply to vent your spleen, show indifference, or to agree with this stance.

Is there any way I can get that thread back seeing as I was unaware of this development as the thread was made before this announcement?

Yes, but there is a sticky in the tech section that has been there for some time - Being specific with the title of technical threads

However, due to your technical contributions to the forum, your thread has been returned as I'm sure it was just an oversight that wont happen again Oh, and dont forget to rename your thread.

Hmmmmm, I've posted 2 tech threads in the past day (5 quarts are better than 4...) and each time it has disappeared.... What's up???

Don't tell me that 5 quarts are better than 4 leading into a 5 quart sump project I'd like opinions on is too vague....????

Yeah, i think it is. For one we dont use quarts, plus why cant the topic be something like "4AGE Extended sump designs - is 5 quarts better than 4?"

most of the world at least understands quarts..... I, more than most northern, and western hemisphere types, make a real attempt to use metric conversions, often posting both the SAE and Metric equvilent....

and besides you prove my point by not changing the units, but just adding, "4AGE extended sump designs"

I assume you are talking about Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre? One of the players involved with the French Revolution?

If so, his postion was that if one man’s life had to be sacrificed to save the Revolution, there was no alternative.

Similarly, my position is, if a thread (or three) have to be sacrificed to ensure a neater, more descriptive Tech Section, there is no alternative.

Like Robespierre, I too mean well, and do this for the long term, greater good of the forums.

The point of this thread is that you need a descriptive title. Adding what i added makes it a descriptive title.... talking about quarts doesnt.

Is there a guide in regards "proper subject title" naming?

How does Toymods define the line between a "proper subject title" and an "improper subject title" ?
