There are not too many options for Genuine parts outside of Toyota within Australia.

    In my experience

Most if not all wreckers sell 2nd hand parts
Most importers (I've dealt with) import 2nd hand parts
Your local Repco / Autobahn / Supercheap autos all sell generic parts (non-genuine)
Your local mechanic can supply Genuine parts but these would come from Toyota.

When I am looking for parts I generally go straight to Castle Hill Toyota.

After Toyota, I'm generally looking online in locations Outside of Australia (USA, Japan etc) unless someone local on ebay happens to be selling a NOS genuine part.

Thanks Simon, that's the kind of info we need. I had a hunch what you posted was the case but couldn't be 100% sure.

    Cheers

I used to buy them from Toyota until I got sick of their service.

I buy mine from Amayama, Great service and quick Arrival.... Beats speaking to a woman at a Toyota dealership who knows nothing.

    +1
Local Toyota places gave me the "no vin number no service" treatment which is especially hard to get after a halfcut has already been scrapped.

Amayama have been far easier to deal with. I'll definitely be getting parts from there again.

I just bought a set of AE86 PS knuckles from Amayama, price for a new genuine pair through them was the same as a second hand set from the local importers, this includes shipping. Hasn't arrived yet as I only ordered friday, but the experience was incredibly painless so if all goes well, I will definately be doing this again, especially for some of the harder to find specific parts for my KZN130 Surf.

As has been said. there arent many options outside of toyota dealers to get GENUINE toyota parts. I will generally go to my local toyota dealer first and foremost with a part number in hand (it just makes things quicker/easier).

I have bought enough things for my jdm AW11 there that they now give me trade price on everything. If they dont have a part or it is ridiculously expensive, the only other real option is to look at NZ or USA for genuine parts, which I usually won't bother doing unless there is no decent aftermarket alternative (there usually is, unless it's something really obscure).

That's great to hear, although we can't take all the credit, Japan Post are the most important link in the chain.
