Default Website Suggestion - Toymods lite

    Hi Toymods board / admin,

I don't know if this has ever been suggested before but how about a version of the forums target towards mobile users?
Like something with no avatars or picture headers, images as thumbnails/ links only etc. In a format that is legible on a small screen.

I'd imagine it would be a lot of work to implement, maybe even impossible with the current forums software(?) I would use Toymods a lot more if this was available though, I reckon others would too, it'd give your advertsers more exposure : )
It could be called something 'cool' like iToymods : P

    anyway, thought for the day...

I'd prefer 'Toymods mobile' but yes, also interested to know if this could happen.

Not if you remove images and image headers (display them as links, etc).

It'll remove the banner advertising on top, and give less exposure to the forum sponsors.

Then banner advertising could be changed to a link also. It would be more exposure in the sense that now they have a banner on a website that is accessible by PC, if there was a mobile type site then they would have the addition of a link to peoples' phones that is easier to get to. So the content wouldn't be as visually rich as an image to click on but the audience could be widened.

And if the forum sponsors' for-sale section was available that would also increase potential exposure.

how many advertising links do you actually access on your phone?

You're right not that many, but possibly just as many as from a PC.
I have looked up phone nubers / addresses for places pretty often which has resulted in me buying stuff.
    Not from Toymods recently though.
The advertising thing wasn't really the main point, I was just trying to make it sound more appealing to the board or whoever makes such decisions

I was more thinking of myself being able to read the Tech and Conversions forums and General as I commute on the train for a couple of hours each day

    Buy a netbook?

I believe phones should manage the site better not the site should be setup for phones. But that wont change.

So if its easy to do i vote yes.

My phone browses Toymods fine, it's the only way I access it lately so I somewhat agree with the Cuzzbro.

    Netphonebook

Some people might have rip off data plans where they REALLY need not view images,
and that will be a problem if their phone doesn't have a browser to disable viewing images.

if their plan costs so much, i suppose they ned to weigh up if it is worth spending it on Toymods!
viewing a whole bunch of threads will also add up in terms of data transferred...

maybe those people that can't afford to view toymods on their phone, could live within their means and wait until the get to a PC to look at the forums?

my n97 runs it fine also. although Opera mini does a much better job at it than the standard nokia browser.

i think phones will only get better so reading most web pages will only get better/easier for them, but i do see the advantage for some people of this.
