    Default Idle surge - 3s-gte Haltech e6x

    Hey guys,

This is doing my head in. About a week ago I bypassed the coolant lines going to my throttle body on my gen 2 3s-gte. Ran great for a bit but now it surges constantly at idle but ONLY once its warmed up. When it's cold it runs sweet.

So I put the hoses back to factory but it's still surging. And when I say surging I mean like from 1300rpm to 1700rpm back and fourth without stopping (idle is set high because it's not tuned properly)

And its not the ISCV because its not even hooked up. I don't think it's the tune as it was working before and it also does it when I loaded the basemap that Haltech sent me.

    Any help would be appreciated

I would try checking the TPS readings, If the TPS isn't reading correctly/eratically the computer will get confused and cause it to hunt for idle. The easiest way to check it is to watch the graph in Halwin or alternatively use a multimeter on the Ohms setting and check against the signal wire. The readings should be ascending/descending depending on the TPS your using. If you have any part of the TPS that's very high resistance or Open circuit than its no good.

I hope this helps you out.

Forgot to mention if you use the multimeter technique than you have to disconnect the wiring from the sensor and check the sensor directly while moving the throttle open/closed...

The ECU isnt controlling idle by ISCV if the ISCV isnt connected
So TPS shouldnt be the issue.

What does the timing map look like around the idle RPM?
It can have a large effect on idle speed.

Hey guys thanks for the help, MWP was the closest.

Had to muck around with the 4 or so maps that were used during idle, managed to get it idling very well.

For future reference the zero throttle map was the main one I fiddled with to get it idling well.
