Default GFB Boost Controller > MA70

I just bought a boost controller, its a GFB atomic controller.

now, i know im meant to replace a line from the wastergate, tot he wastegate actuator with the line supplied, with the arrow on the bleed valve pointing towards the actuator.

i had a look, and underneath the turbo, there is a metal line, going to the actuator, im hoping this isnt the bastard i have to replace, as i want to be able to revert it back to factory if need be.

however, there is obviously another line coming off the actuator, it comes off the back of it, pointing towards the engine, and i cant see where either of the lines ends up, so i dont know which one to replace, the line coming off the back of the actuator is a rubber line, which looks quite easy to replace, so im hoping this is the one that has to go.

the lines i have look like this:

    ______________ __ ___________
    <---- Wastegate ______________|_>|___________ ------> wastegate actuator
/\ boost controller, arrow pointing to actuator.

Im just trying to confirm which line it is, hoping theres someone on toymods thats installed a boost controller to a 7M

pic, showing the metal line, the CT26, wastegate actuator, and my brand spaking new engine mounts

i think the metal line your referring to is just the actuator arm, it pulls/pushes the wastegate flap in the exhaust housing, the lines you are after are at the front of the turbo. give me a minute and i'll get you a picture.

    edit - Heres the picture

Basically the actuator keeps the wastegate closed until pressure in the compressor reaches 7psi, once at 7psi the actuator will opens the wasteagte to stop boost getting higher than 7psi as boost drops below 7psi the actuator closes the wastegate again. So its continually open/closing and keeps boost at 7psi.

Do you have a picture of your boost controller? is it electronic or a screw type?

GFB atomic is a screw type bleed valve.

And yeah picture tells all. You plug the boost controller into the source (located on turbine housing) and plug the other end into the actuator. So in essence, it lies to the actuator how much boost is actually there.

yeah i just put a gfb boost controller on my mz20 last weekend it was pretty simple, just use the hose in the picture as shown by kemicalx. but i just went to super cheap and got a meter length of vacum hose and cut it in half so i could easily get to it instead of using pissy little bit of hose they supply. hope it helps

sorry for the late replay, but after i didnt receive a reply for half an hour, i just went out and removed the line mentioned, boost has now been raised to .6 KG/cm2 (8.5 PSI)

previously it was at .45 KG/cm2 (6.5 ish PSI)

    Cheers everyone

8.5 is where it will stay, while it dry anyway, going back down to stock when it rains.

im goign to redo it today, make it a bit easier/less burningful to change the boost, does it matter if i extend that line from stock length, the about 3-4 times as long...?

keep in mind, stock is around 3 inches long... i just need to pull the boost controller up away from the turbo, so i can change boost easier.

    cheers for +rep guys,

You can make the lines longer, but keep them as short as possible.

just make them long enough that the bleed valve can be fixed somewhere it can be adjusted easily. Personally I wouldn't want to have each line any longer than a foot.

i was thinking 10-15cm for each line, leaving about a foot of line all up, just so i can zip tie it to a hose of somesort and have the adjustment sticking out so i can adjust it without having 644,546 burns on my fingers+hands+forearm, my girlfriend nearly flipped when she saw the condition on my hand yesterday! damn those stupis fucking toyota clamps, they poke, prod and cut whatever you do with them!

coppers dont like non standard stuff, i was planning to just tie mine to the 'cooler hose under the turbo, so i can adjust it stealthily either that, or the air cleaner hose between turbo and AFM, to the underside of that, because, how it is now, i need a towel so i dont burn myself, while i jam my hand betweent he turbo and strut tower, to hold the thing, while i jam the other hand in between the air cleaner pipe and the power steering resorvoir, its really not cool, and everythings made of hot metal, and for some reason, its also knife-sharp :/
