    Default Any way to search 3 letter words?

    As above I'm looking for threads on what oil people are using, but can't exactly search for it in the thread titles... Happy to trawl through numerous threads.

    have you tried using a wildcard on the end? (i.e. oil*)

    The minimum you can search is 4 letter words except for some of the more common acronyms that would have been programmed into the search engine, though I am not sure on where to find that list.

    The other option is to use a Google advance search and put Toymods as the website.

    This is actually a shit of a thing when needing to seach for most Toyota Engine codes.

    Searching for 3S* is too short. (To cover 3S-GE, 3S-GTE, 3SGE, 3SGTE, etc)

    Searching for 3K* is too short. (eg. My engine is not a 3K-C yet I can't search for it.)

    Searching for 3R* is too short. (There is no other name for a 3R, and has no other letters associated with it, it is just plain 3R.)

    Using Google is the only way to do the above, but you can't have a go at someone for not searching (which of course people do on a daily basis) if they cannot use the forum based search to look for what they require.

    Yeah I also noticed it when trying to search for threads about 1G engines.

    Will try the wildcard option and also zops google search tonight.

    Bit annoying really.

    Just type site:toymods.net after your google search, you might find it easier than going though advanced search.

    e.g. 3s site:toymods.net

    thread titles often aren't really helpful to the search anyway

    Maybe it would be helpful to add this to the search dropdown box too:
    Code:
    <td class="vbmenu_option">
    <form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/search">
    <input type="text"   name="q" size="31"
     maxlength="255" value="" />
    <input type="submit" value="Google Search" />
    <input type="hidden"  name="sitesearch"
     value="http://www.toymods.net/forums/"/>
    </form>
    </td>
    That is a custom search element for searching just within Toymods.

    To add it, open the navbar section of Style Manger, and add that code just below $template_hook[navbar_search_menu]

    FYI, i had to take a screenshot of the PF one, so here it is linked here:

    The vbmenu_option for the css class lets it take on whatever the style of the template is.
    Do note however, this wont search where the public cant see anyway, but most of the good information is in T&C

    Happy to help, took a little bit of mucking around, but then again i do code a lot of my day, so coding up little things like this can be a nice break from the monotony of coding corporate stuff.

    lol at the 'Life will resume shortly' comment while the forum was down. Was wondering what was up.

    And nice touch with the name of the search.
