Default SA Classic Celica Club Cruise - Sat the 22nd of April

    Hey Classic Celica Owners,
I thought i'd post this up on behalf of the Classic Celica Club of South Australia.
The last cruise (see other thread) was an awesome day with a great route to Victor Harbor. It was a big turnout with about 18 Classic Celicas looking awesome driving in a line along South Road.

This Cruise will be a bit different but hopefully just as good. I can't remember the exact route but it'll be something like through Tea Tree Gully, chain of ponds, Lobethal, Woodside, Eagle on the Hill then down the freeway. The club definitely won't be encouraging crazy drifting through the windy parts because it could leave a bad name for the club but I spose you can do whatever you want

    Details:
    Time: 3:00pm for a 3:30 departure
    Date: 22/04/2006
Meeting Point: The North Western Corner of Ingle Farm Shoppign Centre (near Hungry Jacks)

You can ask questions here or give the president of the club (Adrian) a call on 0403303299.
There will also be a Tenpin Bowling Social Get-together about a week after which should be fun, You can ask details here, find out about it on the day or call Adrian.

    So who's coming?

    How'd the day go?
I would have liked to have been there & met some SA faces, only my baby's undergoing a bit of surgery, namely rack & pinion conversion & HG replacement, and I'm recovering from food poisoning & was diagnosed with cellulitis of the foot this morning.... WTF???

I'll certainly be looking to join in one a cruise once the old girl's back in action!

BTW, Adam, was your celica parked at Thebarton Supercheap Saturday morning? There was a '22 with a CCC sticker & very similar colour to yours there....

Yeah it was pretty decent, though I turned off at lobethal.
Great choice of route - most of my favourite roads all in a row
Mostly it was all TA and RA sillicars but there was an st204, a swift gti and my ae82.

The GTI I have to say is a very capable little machine. I'm not saying it was hard to keep up with, but I did have to push harder than I expected.
However, the Older sillicars have highlighted to me just how far chassis design went between the 70's and 80's. They've actually made me start wondering how much better a 90's or 00's car might handle over my late 80's brick.

I managed to catch a glimpse in my rearview of the white ta22 getting quite sideways through one of the hairpins. I saw it hit what looked to be about 40* with a huge display of doorhandle scratching bodyroll, and I was expecting it to spin, or dive headfirst off the road.
    AFIK there were no incidents.

Gee, these classic celica guys, like their cars, seem to lack computers.
You'd think one of them would have said hi by now...
