    Default Updated information requirements

As some of you may have already found out, when you click on your user cp you will be prompted to change your details.

This is due to the board simplifying the way in which new members register for the forums. Unfortunately this process has effected all current members.

The board created a new user profile field for surname and suburb. So as you go through please move your surname from first name into surname and add your suburb.

As per initial sign up anyone with false or misleading information will be banned straight up.

If your details have changed in fields you cannot edit, please contact the board to update this for you.

Thanks Stitt on behalf of the board

Just a quick Q. I've been a forum member for a really long time, why do you need to know my last name and where I live? I mean i'll change it if I must to prevent a ban but I don't see the relevance.

I could not see this in the FAQ anywhere either. Oh also while i'm typing, the "Rules agreed to at sign-up" section of the FAQ is really hard to read without paragraphs (at least it is in firefox).

    Wilwal98,

The information required as part of the updated information requirement is information that has been required since the "new" forums were launched. We were just rather lax with the initial signups so some people were approved without a last name.

We are not asking for anything that was not supposed to be there, we have just made some changes to the sign up form to make things clearer and easier to understand and as a global change it has affected all users.

If you could make sure the correct information is supplied it would be appreciated as we will be running a filter on the new fields and any accounts with dodgy info will be culled from the database.

Thanks for the heads up on the FAQ hard to read, I'll check it out.

    Thanks in advance.

Just a question in regards to this.

Whats the benefit of these changes? The honest will put in their correct details and the not so honest or lazy would put in whatever they want.

Would the same rules apply to those putting in pat mccracken etc to delete their profile as these name wouldnt be allowed in sign up?

Along with his brothers York, Pork and Sick.

If someone wants to put in bullshit information, that sounds legit... then we really wouldn't know. Of course, we hope people are honest, but seeing some of the shit that happens to people in the classifieds (ie money or items owing and ppl being ripped off) I don't have that much faith in the honesty or integrity of the average person.

If bullshit info is found out then we delete that user and block their IP address permanently and without warning.

Never fear, the sexual orientation and blood type fields are in the process!
They will closely be followed by income and credit history fields, and the grand finale will be your credit card and statement details, with a scanned copy of your signature...
    Punctuation is the difference between...
'I helped my Uncle, Jack, off his horse'
    and...
'I helped my uncle jack off his horse.'

Ah so that's why you want those details. That's cool. I'll change mine now.

I know the classified are not the primary function of the forums so I'm not sure how much effort you want to put into this but I'm sure there are ways to confirm the information is correct before users are allowed to use the classifieds.
