Default Forum Problems - Not marking threads read

    Hi,

Im not sure if anyone else is experincing these problems.

From about 6:30pm last night, I read a thread that im subscribed to, and that thread is still showing new posts. If i click on the thread again to read new posts. It displays the post i have already read.

Also it looks like the whole forum has been marked read, when I didnt click on the "mark forums read" button.

    Anyone else have this?

    Cheers,
    Adam

I noticed some threads in my subscribed threads list that should only be listing unread stuff but the threads had no new posts. Admittedly they were displayed in non-bold text showing there were no new posts but they shouldn't be there. I'm not too sure what the story is with that behavior but I saw it last night and this morning the threads I saw it happen with were no longer listed.

There was some work done on the database yesterday to improve performance. This behavior may be related to that but I am not sure.

Yeah I'm getting the same thing as you Josh, right now.

(Threads I've read still appearing yet not in bold)

Happening in New Posts, and Settings pages.

    Man this is anoying!

I just marked the whole forum as read.

All subscribed threads showed no new posts(which is correct). When new posts became available, i read them and went back to my settings page and i see the thread but not in bold (same as those above^)

However if i close my browser and re-open these are again in bold showing me that there is new posts...when in fact there isnt.

    Hope this helps.

+1 for having issue as explained by cuzzo

also, i seem to be missing the drop down list usually on the bottom right hand side, for quick navigating through the various forums sections?

what is happening is the old system listed all threads as read that you hadn't read, I prefer that system as well since I only read selected thread from work and catch up with everything at home later.

The system that seems to have been put in place now lists threads that have not been read since the last visit or log-on which is the same as Performance Forums has, I dislike this system due to above reasoning of not being able to keep track of the threads that have ACTUALLY been read, not just with new posts since last visit.

    god damn!

I just noticed that when you click on the link to take you to the new posts it only takes you to the posts that have been made since the last visit.
The thread in particular was the crazy conversion ideas thread and since I didn't look at said thread last visit it looked like 3 people had posted some innane chatter about nothing. I had to scroll back several post and 1 page to find what they were on about...

can this be fixed back to the way it was please?

    Guys,

The 2 areas that are being discussed here were shut down last night. The reason being, with the forums being sluggish of late I went through the vb recommended optimization to the board to leach out more performance.

The automatic mark as read was set from Database to Cookie based, hence the drop off. And the Quick navigation as it generates a lot of HTML.

These have been turned back on.

    Cheers
