Dare I ask why?
As opposed to putting the new pump inside the tank and replacing the old?
i want to run the stock efi pump to feed an external efi pump, with no surge tank
as the stock tank & pump are efi i don't forsee a problem.
thoughts?

Reduces load on the main pump, also depending ont eh way the AE82 is set up (haven't looked yet) might save me having to pull the fucking tank out which in previous cars I've always found to b a pain in the arse.
If someone can confirm it's not a **** of a job (does the tank even need to come out, or is there internal access to the pump?) and let me know of a drop-in option to support 450hp (crank) that would be good.

In the ae92's you could get to it from under the back seats. Walbro make an, expensive (~$200), high flow intank pump that is about the same size as the orignal one. I believe it flows ~255 litres per hour.

AE86 shell - waiting for a donor car from the auctions.
fricken typical, shitty job
so anyway can anyone confirm if my original plan is ok? i'd prefer not to drop the tank as the car is already in a billion pieces as it is without pulling the tank out too
