Damn.. I thought I was bad when wanting people to put 'than' in the right context instead of 'then' all the time. Not everything is spelled how it's said.

Similarly infraction and infarction are not interchangeable terms.

So what do we do when an infraction is given to a member and nothing is done about the thing they were given an infraction for?

For example, a member has been given an infraction for having more than 5 lines in their sig and now the infraction has expired and they still haven't changed their sig to conform with the rules...

    Hi,

I go and remove their sig and replace it with something smaller. Which is something I always did, anyway.

Since I’ve received an infraction from Zop for a thread I haven’t posted in for 2 months before infractions existed should I raise the question of how far back through old threads do we need to check for these infractions, months? Years? The old forums?
Just in case someone drags a thread you have totally forgotten existed back up.

Is this not like getting a backdated speeding ticket from a time when speeding fines didn’t exist or has my dyslexia turned to paranoia?

Most of the rules have not changed in a long time, so if it had been picked up when you first posted it, it would have been deleted and you would have been given neg rep. Just because you were infracted for something that broke the rules before infractions existed doesnt mean that you should be exempt from any form of punishment.

Its a system designed to be separate from reputation and its intention is to give users sufficient warning that they are breaking the rules. The bigger the rule broken, the higher the chance of getting banned. Users make mistakes and its application is also intended to allow the user to rectify their mistake once alerted.
