Garth - that's actually really tempting, and I've been seriously considering it today. End of next week if good - gives me a chance to have this turbo looked at, assess options, possible go ceramic coating, and put it back together (to be fair, putting it back together is not exactly a big job, but I'm a wuss etc)

What's the worst that can happen? turbine wheel falls off and gets stuck in exhaust? Drive back to Syd n/a

srsly doubt it will fall off - apart from scorched blades, the turbo is in nice condition. minimal play, everything looks good.

looks like my seat rails will be in 2 weeks after the track day though, Linden's new job also means the cage may take a while to move from the garage wall to the back of my car.

The coilovers are still a maybe, need to make a decision on them next week if I want them in time to do a quick install. Chassis rails are also tough bastards to realign without any hydraulic tools and I can't fit the coilovers with a wonky chassis. I've had no time to visit any smash repair places to ask any questions, so I think I'll still be going down there as is with that one corner still 10mm out and hope it doesn't destroy the tyres too much... having said that, the tyres only cost me $200... The chassis is strong though, for those concerned, it has done 4 days down there previously like this and does drive straight when the wheels are aligned.

Smash repairs told me the other day chassis straightening would cost between $800 and $2000 for my Hilux depending on how bad it is.
