I have the 3F alternator in the Unicorn. On a 2TG it is as Karl indicated - A bolt in fit. The bottom bracket swivel didn't need any washers.

The 18R engine mount sure does look like a PITA of an issue tho No such problem on the T series.

OK - looks like i will need to get my hands on an 3F-E alternator and test fit it on mine, and look at how to MAKE it fit.

First thing i notice is that you have the OEM rubber mounts, which are massif.
I personally run the Kelpro engine mounts, which are a medium softness urethane mount, which is a bit "slimmer" out the sides than the OEM mount.
    Looks like this:

Perhaps with this slimmer mount, the clearance issues might not be so bad.

Rod - might mean i need to borrow your alternator one night
    ...... butt scratcher?!

I know this is off subject. so move if moderator thinks so.
Witzl. How did you mount the particular mount pictured. The two I bought has no stud on other side, presume need to make a plate?

Hey guys, I've installed the 3F alternator on my 2tg in ta22, wiring the plug was easy and I think it's all correct, but I am buggered if I know which cables to link to delete the external regulator >.< any help would be appreciated!!

Is there any chance of an actual wiring diagram floating around for this mod?

The guide states that the factory 18R external regulator is no longer required and notes down how to rewire 2 of the cables but there are 6 cables coming out of the regulator...?

The yellow wire on the original harness connector is needed for warning light which connects to L terminal on alternator and a large cable, forget size/gauge I used, goes to battery positive from B+ terminal on alternator. I put mine through a 100 amp fuse as bit of security. No other terminals on original harness plug are needed.

    WOOPS. just read heading properly.
I have upgraded 85 amp XB/ XC V8 alternator on my TA22. My info above may not apply for EA alternators

Hmm yeah I've been looking at an RA28 wiring diagram and alot of the cables coming out of ths factory regulator go lots of other places besides the alternator.
I'm unconvinced that simply leaving them disconnected to do this mod wont result in a problem.
