    Default How to wire 4A series variants ECU, GZE, GE

    Hello, okay im doing this as i feel no one should go through what i had to =( with help of an elec engineer etc here it is, pics soon =):

    1. Fit the engine first!!!!! make sure the new parts you recieved e.g. heater outlet etc have same parts in them, like cold start switch etc.

    2. Gather Complete loom, meaning plugs, loom wires and ecu+plugs.

    3. 'Cut and shut' first rthing to do is mate your new loom up to the car, so if it is FWD then you have to extend ALOT to make it fit, just plan it at this stage, and draw a general map for the locations on the car.

    4. Bolt up your auxilary stuff, so your supercharger relays in GZE case and injector resistors etc.

    5. Lay your loom out on the floor, starting from the plug end, remove all the black tape and conduit, this will make tracting alot easier.

    6. The whole aim of wiring up the ecu in another car is only to provide power, the most part such as sensors should already be done, they are straight forwards in/out, ill attach some decent wiring diagrams for the AE92 GZE AFM DLI model enigne. essentially all you are doing is using relays to supply power to the loom and sensors. its that easy.

    7. Start by removing the toyota fuse box and relay box you wont need these anymore. Then locate on the wiring diagram these power feeds, +B-used for sensors open circuit relay etc, +12v (AM1/2), and the injector resistor feed. Label the above

    8. Start to get rid off useless wires from the fuse box, as you locate them trace them back, if they only went to fuse box remove them, theyre a pain in the a**.

    9. RELAY explanation:

    three relays youll be using main ones:
    EFI main
    INJector main
    Starter relay

    others are fuel pump cutoff-also known as circuit opening and a seperate fuel pump relay =)

    the EFI main supplys power to the +b to power the sensors and EFI whilst the igniton is switched on, the two feeds for this is +12 from AM1 fused with a 7.5amp inline and ig+ from key barrel, it is seperately earthed and the other pin just goes to +B tap you made earlier:

    87/87a=+12v
    86=ig+
    85=earth
    30=+B

    the starter is similar however;

    87=+12V
    86=Start from key barrel similar to ig+
    85=earth
    30=STA on ecu, this will also go to starter motor in the loom wiring, so dont panic =)

    the injector is similar to efi relay

    87=IG+
    86=+B
    85=earth
    30=injector resitor power

    Thats all thsat is needed to run it if the fuel pump is prewired to ig etc.

    For the fuel pump i used a lpg safety cut off, its simple costs $45 runs through a -ve tacho signal (can be used by wrapping wire around No.1 spark lead.)

    then seperate relay for fuelpump:

    87=+12
    86=ig+ (or signal from the converter switch)
    85=earth
    30=fuelpump +12 (just ground other fuel pump terminal =)

    this removes the stupid open circuit relay which i found sensless;

    10. Now wire these to the loom so thats the +B,and inj res power would be all that came out of that =(.

    11. Recheck all the sensors and plugs on ecu, will save time in next step, then place on clear area.

    12. Cable tie components together via similar location e.g FR on engine bay etc..
    13. Plug into the car and try her out, should work if not troubleshoot via the diagram, e.g.. if not cranking check your starter relay then power feeds then tthe STA pin on ecu etc..

    ****for unkown connectors check for power before removing, f it has +12 constantly etc, follow them back throough the loom in previouys step and thhis will determine it =).

    You should be fine now, this is simpleest way to do it, so just tidy her up and securely place in car.

    feel free to adjust accordingly!!

    For a explanation of various components try searching toymods and google:

    troubled points i had was cold start injector time switch and the coil wires were back to front.
