Good point - Does anyone a bit more local to Dubbo have any idea if this is expected again this year? It did make the drive out there a couple of years ago a little unpleasant (and I still find the occasional locust in my radiator every now and then )

Hey kiddies, check out www.affa.gov.au, click on Australian Plague Locust Commission and then locust situation for March 2006. It seems to be not so bad this year, certainly nowhere near as bad as in years gone by.
On the Nationals as of tonight there are approx 50 cars entered and over 100 people going that we know about, lots of spectators expected of course.
It's going to be an awesome weekend, looking forward to seeing everyone. Cheers and safe driving

back in 2003 we did the bathurst stop on the way home.... that way there was less "rush and hurry" to get in and out whilst on the way to Dubbo.
