Default Operation "1jz" it begins.. 56k warning..

so ive had this project underway for over a year now. i bought her of my next door neighbour for an absolute bargan coz she wouldn't start. at the time she had the original 5m-e, so i brought her home ran through the usual process of elimination.... one busted fuel pump.. . so popped in a new pump and turned the key... SHE HAS LIFE! but with an awful rattle comming from the motor.

so i ordered new timing gear, tensioners, chains belts the whole works... still makin a bad sound.. so i pulled the rocker cover off and ripped out the cam...

hmmm... nasty little scorch marks... was suprised to find there was no bearings at all.. cam was perfect cut to sit in the head

    more to come next post...

The camshafts don't use bearings, simply an oil gallery to create a thin film of oil between the cap and the cam.

I like where this thread is headed, however it took me a second to work out that it was an MA61

cheers ph@ man. keepin the motor stock for now, see how she goes.. have been lookin at single turbo setup but ill wanna do other mods when that happens (cams, aftermarket ecu etc) keepin her street for now but ill try get her a run or two down the strip for fun lol. im into my car audio and interior mods but that all has to wait until she is at least back together and running.

i hope you're going to fix up the rust around the clutch master before the new motor goes in. Rest of the car looks pretty good for it's age!

its only surface rust.. the cylinder leaked and it peeled the paint off... just needs a good clean up... im going to be repainting the engine bay before i put the motor in..

    E stands for EFI.

    a 1JZGT doesn't exist.

THat looks like an Auto Tranny ECU to suit a 1jz-gte, w/ auto tranny (i'm not an 1jz expert so don't quote me on that.) Here's a pic of a spare ECU i have here for a 4agze, doesn't have the E on it either. I pulled this one off a working wreck, so i know its the right one

    don't stress

EDIT: Really need to find my proper camera this fone camera is shit.
