well engine mounts fit perfect, bit of custom work on the turbo return lines and tis all good!

so i went for the test fit and nearly got there

i actually go tthe motor down and into the engine bay but for some reason the mounts wont line up on both sides... i can get one into place but then on the other side i seems to fall short? i cant get the pic to upload but as soon as i do ill post it...

any thoughts in the meantime as to why this has happened?

one mount is off centre whereas the other is smack bang in the middle. wilbo's designs show the off centre one on the passenger side which i have done... they almost line up... almost like they were designed short... i got a feeling the fabricators have stuffed up... gonna have to measure the mounts too make sure they are all correct..

You didn't measure them when first getting back from fabricators?

how much is it out ? can you just slip some washers or some sort of spacer behind ? temporarily at least. just to work out how far out it is. pics ?
so much stuff. so little time.

yeah im gonna have to look at spacing it. 3-5mm spacers under each mount (between the rubber mount and the cross member)

ok so i tried another test fit... this time with pics

i bolted the drivers side up to start with

while still being held up by the engine crane it sat like this... you can see the small spacer i mocked up sitting on top of the cross member, i might use this to make larger/thicker spacers?

and fully released into the bay it went south...

spacers the go? wat to do

very flat out with work atm but the beast may be getting a small money injection in the next few weeks thanks to a faulty printer setting fire to the old mans office... once everything has been replaced for my old mans business there is going to be a cash settlement and ive been granted a small portion of the payout... cash flow aint the problem tho.... finding the time is, but i am going for another attempt this weekend... ive built a couple of different sized spacers to fit under the mounts, just have to get stuck ino it on the weekend

ok so ive been flat out wit work but i finally got a chance to make some progress today..

    ITS IN! ITS FINALLY IN!

nice big spacer did the trick

took a bit of push n shove but its bolted in and just that in itself has givin me a huge boost to get back into it and get it done. so this week ill look into bell housing and gearbox setup and organise the exhaust side of things and during that ill try get all the wiring hooked up. still far from finished but one step closer to complete..

had a spare bit of time today so i thought id attack ye old worn out rims and give em a new lease of life

    enter the masking tape!

    add a lil paint...

let dry and presto! all shiny and new! i love the look... i think ill keep the stock rims for a while... keep that sleeper look as much as possible

Are you using the original MA61 engine mounts rubbers?
If so they've probably sagged heaps, which is why there is a need for a spacer.

Go spend $150 on a pair of new Mackay mounts and you'll find you won't need it (assuming the fabricators didn't stuff up)

wilbo's engine mount design is a 8mm plate.. mine is only 5mm.. but ive got new engine mounts on the way so i might have to rethink the spacers again

so the start of the shiny stuff started to arrive...

mocked up a frame for it. 3mm mild steel. gonna try bring it up just a tad further coz it pokes out the bottom of the bumper about an inch or so but im happy wit the frame. bloody big cooler tho.. just fits as ya can see in the pics. going to finish it of by welding a plate from the frame to the bottom of the hood catch to make it a lil more solid and once the pipes are installed she should be sweet!

ill throw down some more pics tomoz

movin on up... to the electrical side of things.. ive started slowly pulling all the wires from the loom that i no longer require and im hittin a few snags along the way..

the loom is jzz30, now most of it was in tact apart from a small couple of clustered wires that had been cut(possibly went to the body loom or fuse box in engine bay??). ive started to trace the wires from the ecu and although im making good progress im stuck on a few plugs that are located near the ecu.
    these two bad boys

    and this lil sucker
anyone know what they are for or what they plug into
