gtr brembos and 16mm thick rotors??

does anyone know the piston specs in particular their depth as to whether a gtr brembo caliper (33/34) designed for a 22mm thick rotor will be safe to use on a 16mm thick rotor

also if anyone has had experience - what would be a better rotor with these calipers performance wise, a standard 300x22mm (gtr) or a 324x16mm. (standard tt mk4 supra)

is it safe to machine the halves to make them thinner? or are they monoblock?

um never thought of that - they are deff 2 piece cast caliper. not sure how they link the fluid channels between each pot though - are they just o-rigns which would need ot be re-grooved??

The design of those calipers allows them to be used with thinner disks without an issue.

You simply need to get two 3mm spacer plates (that look like the brake pad backings, 22-16mm = 6mm -> div 2 = 3mm) and install them with the brake pads. They will be held in place by the holes / rods as per the existing pads

This way the pistons will be in the same position as they would have been on the 22mm disk, but on your 16mm disk

thats what i was thinking of doing - then i thought they might rattle like fuck

perhaps i could try hi-temp glueing 1 on to the other with something or a couple of tack welds

stock parts are expenisive enough as it is without havign to order custom made pads these calipers camme with ebs greenstuff pads which would be nice to use.

I'd just go with the metal spacer. Use some anti-rattle goop. It's used between the shims and the pad usually, but whack some between the pad and spacer, then between the spacer and shims and she'll be apples.

Add 3mm to whatever you think the pad's wear limit is!
I'd say backing plate +3.
