air leak? ISCV faulty/not wired correctly?
Have just installed a 2jzgte and at idle the engine ramps between 2000rpm and 1000rpm every second, any ideas?

air leak? ISCV faulty/not wired correctly?
I have a small, what appears to be a vacuum line, under the the very first part of the throttle body. I don't know where this goes.

I've completely blocked the intake at the start of the plenum but the engine still idles at about 2500 - getting air in somewhere.
Where does the brake booster vacuum normally connect to?
Fixed it, Wilbur and you were right - I had no power to the ISC ValveOriginally Posted by Draven
Good to hear that you fixed it ..
Whats the engine in now ..
As to the small vacuum hose under the Throttle body, if its directly under the throttle / butterfly, i'm sure that should be the purge pipe for the carbon cannister ..
The brake booster pipe will come off the top of the plenum towards the back of the plenum, or directly off the very back vertical section of the plenum chamber, depending on what year motor it is ..
I'm still weighing up wether to put my 2JZ into something .. The power would be very nice though, but certainly dont want to end up with a fuel guzzler ...
Rob ..
Hiace SBV, I also hope its not a gas guzzler1Originally Posted by lexsmaz
Define "gas guzzler"... depends a lot on weight as well.
my modded 2j in JZA80 does 15l/100km around town, 10l/100 on the fwy
Draven, how modded is your 2J, What sort of KW'S ...
For me up to around 12L/ 100km is acceptable around town, i use my old 1jz Corona as my bench mark, used to return around 10L/ 100km around the city, even boosting it a bit ..
I figure you cant really use the power most of the time so why Guzzle fuel just cruising around ..
Rob ..
bear in mind a corona weighs a good few hundred kgs less than a jza80.
my jza80 is making 350rwkw. weighs in at a touch under 1500kgs... and it's about to go in for a little bit of a retune, fix up cold start and cruise (it's a bit rich under light throttle, I figure I can get it lower than 15l/100)
The old 2jzge vvt-i was doing approx 20lt/100k, it was a bit sad and thats why it came out.
My SBV weighs in at 2400kg and is about as aero as a block of flats. If I could get 15lt/100, I would be happy.
Tell me I'm dreaming.
