    Default Bubble tank installation guide

im not sure where to put this thread. Since this is a big question mark on what im facing so i decide to put it here

i recently bought the RX7 used V-mount radiator for my Toycar and the radiator doesnt have the normal cap like most radiator... so it needs a bubble tank for refilling purpose and also expansion purpose... I bought the bubble tank. but the tricky part is i dont have any knowledge whether do i need to mount the tank higher than my radiator? i installed the v mount radiator the conventional way which result in the pipe both sticking upwards.. so like i said just now the bubble tank height im still very confuse whether its sufficient to mount it higher than the radiator itself or i have to actually mount them higher than the pipes as well... if i have to mount them higher than my pipes than i have trouble as im running out of height in my engine bay

You don't have to mount the 'Overflow Bottle' as we call it higher than the radiator.

    Anywhere will be fine.

It works on the system being sealed, not gravity

no i think he is talking about one of those other tanks, where your radiator does not have the cap, the other tank has the cap, and its joined to the radiator and other low points to supply the engine properly.

according to a zoom article, the 'bubble tank' (i forget the proper name) DOES need to be mounted higher than the rest of the system.

Needs to be higher, so the air collects there and is bled off. That's my understanding anyway...

    ^yes that right.

you need it because the radiator cap (or top tank or overflow line whatever) is lower than the engine or another part of the coolant system.

Where ever you fill the cooling system from needs to be the highest point (above the engine) so the air bubbles rise to there and are bleed out properly.

Thanks for the feedback guys.. so now i had already mount it slightly higher, which is half a bottle on top of the radiator highest point. i hope it will work as i dont know how to monitor. if need to mount the whole bottle higher than the radiator , i had difficulty doing so as i dont have any space left

as long as where you fill it up to is high then your set. By the sounds of what you've done, it'll be right.
just make sure you run the engine while filling, and use warm water/coolant mix while doing it. just makes it easier and a lil safer. But shouldn't be a problem.
