has been discussed before, and answered above
you wanna be the one to post a car for sale that leads to someone getting ripped off?

That is a very good point !

i've been replying to pms, but the idea was that i didnt want to be the middle man, just link the toymods community to a unique ta22.

So this would go for cars found on ebay, carsales and the like ?

    you would be the middleman.....

see, anyone can search ebay and carsales etc....
if someone is looking for a car, then they are probably looking there anyway...

to stop people being stuck as the middle man, and potentially thought to be responsible for a car that is not theirs but turns out shit, the rules were chosen so that Toymods forum members can sell their cars on toymods... ie, the seller IS responsible as they are selling their stuff.

putting up links for external sales sites is a bit redundant, as it is just free advertising for the seller.
sure there may be some interest, but if people are looking for a car, they will be looking on those sites already.

if you REALLY want to link some ad, why not just put it in the dedicated thread for that type of car.. since only those people will be looking in there...

I can't see how you guys can sit back and go "No, you can't do it" when I can dig a thread up where someone informed the whole forum of an engine for sale for a certain price, and no one got in trouble for that...

    the "pipe dream" engine?
and was it not posted within the relevant thread?

There is a Cars Wanted section, that if someone is asking if anyone is selling a *blah* then you could post it there. generally anyone else that is looking for that particular vehicle will see who is thinking of selling.
Kyosho, if you are too slow to read between the lines, basically no starting threads for things for sale that you cannot or will nto take responsibility for. however, responding to someone looking for a particular thing is usually ok, if done within reason.
can you see the difference between promoting something for sale, and responding to someones request?
i am not a board member or mod. this is just my opinion.

    so.
no free advertising for people who could not be bothered to sign up to toymods to sell their item.
no free advertising for businesses who could not be bothered to become a forum sponsor.
it really is as simple as that.

its against the rules, but if i knew a mate who had an awesome toyota to sell but he cbf joining toymods (for obvious reasons) then i would just post it as my car, but leave his phone number.

no one can ever find out and the toymods community gets the benifit.

I was thinking of this thread in particular:

    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...t=%24750+yahoo

I didn't see anyone get in trouble for it, and he blatantly said "Hey, I know the rules, but hey who cares"
And I don't see a $750 engine being out of reach, yes they normally sell for a lot more, yes it'd need other bits, but the fact remains, he has done exactly what this member wants to, yet didn't get in trouble for it. And you all claim "If you let one, you have to let them all"

So really, you should now let them all...

that is the one i was thinking of.
the 1GZFE is a little different...
    almost none in Aus.
very little chance to have the chance to get one in aus. or to even get one TO aus...
kind of the "pinnacle" of toyota engineering (no. of cylinders) and desirability for a toyota engine..
and the importing of those 3 or 4 1GZFE's that resulted from that thread will only serve to help the profile of toyota modding in australia

usually i send such links as PM's

but.. celicas are common.. relatively... and the people who are interested in such cars are fairly well known, or make themselves known in the dedicated threads..
AND if a car is advertised online elsewhere in Australia, then EVERYONE in australia already has access to it.
heck, all you would need to do is, in a dedicated thread, say "there is a nice looking celica for sale on ebay at the moment" and people can find it themselves...

anyway, they "way" to post such things has already been said.

Kyosho, do you really need to stir the pot further?

i cant see why it wouldnt be a prob to go to the classic celica dedicated chat and say

"hey fellas, worth a look" ///link///

there have been numerous ebay recommendations done that way

starting a thread though would be a bit over the top
