    Question 4afe idling problems

    hi

i got a 4afe running in my ae92 seca at the moment and over the last 2 weeks ive noticed that when turning the car on in neutral as i do to let the car get oil circulating, not touching any pedals the revs fall or sometimes rise.

It normally sits at 1000revs or close to but yesterday it fell to 300 revs nearly stalled but then it picked it self up slowly and has also risen to 1300 revs on start-up. Now i live in western sydney and the weather has changed to really hot from a pretty cool spring and winter. could this be a factor thought i normally drive from noon to 10pm

I will admit i do give the car a thrashing sometimes though i shouldnt being 350xxkms on the clock but it only has a major service at 313xxx kms including timing belt kit replacent, water pump, all filters etc. etc

    any info people???

Does it have a manual idle adjustment or an automatic ISC valve?

Either way, the most common cause of a hunting idle is stuff gumming up the idle air circuit (the little bit that bypasses the throttle body so air can get into the engine when the throttle is shut)

oh yer checked the hoses no gunk. but i noticed that a thicker hose that went ito the camshaft cover at the seal/plug i could see oil. its not leaking but you could see that it was loose.

i think the part/s are called the VALVE SUB-ASSY, VENTILATION and then that attached to a grommet. the hose is fine but i think its these two parts that might be a problem

12204-15030 - part number for valve sub assy
90480-18001 - part number for the grommet.
