    Default 3t/2tg assembly questions

    question 1)

the oil pump assembly fouls cyl 1's con rod, so is the 2t oil pump assembly different to the 3t? we feel that due to the extra stroke of the 3t, this is causing the clash onto the 2t's oil pump (we suspect the pump assemblies differ)

    question 2)

the dummy cam that drives the dizzy and the oil pump, does the front restraining plate appears to fit very loose, we think there's spose to be a seal or somthing like any normal camshaft or crankshaft seal. we did find a small o-ring that may fit, but it seems to fit against trhe rotating dummp shaft, and this wound require a different seal?

please reply asap! we are in the shed trying to get it together!

thanks guys, any help much appreciated.

Go to Repco tomorrow and get a sheet of cork gasket, trace the shape of the seal and shazzam! The gasket sheet is fairly cheap and you may well get a few more gaskets out of it.

    Good luck!

the dummy cam retainer is loose. no sealant no gasket - this is correct! When the gear is fitted the "dummy cam" (which is in fact the oil pump drive) will no longer move around more than a few thou. Make sure the other existing cam tunnel bearings (ie ones not occupied by the dummy cam) are fitted with "sticks" that block the oil galleries OR install new bearings in the 3 x remaining cam tunnel holes AND ROTATE THE BEARINGS so as to block said oil holes.
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

oh and the dot on the retainer faces the front of the engine IIRC.

    Thanks yellorolla,
Things started to work themselves out with some logic . The rear cam bearings have been rotated.(But thanks for making sure).
