well i reckon a motor needs 3 things to last well....

    Good oil, changed reguarly.
    Good fuel.
    And clean air.

I have seen what happens to 2 stroke bikes when the air filter is not maintained, and its not pretty. obviously this is a tough environment- but you do alot more km's in your car, and dont pull the engine apart for a look very often....(unlike a 2 stroke...)

Remember if you get a washable filter you will eventually get more life from it, and hence some of the cost back.

I don't have any recomendations for a cheaper filter (i have a k&n) but im sure there is a decent cost effective set up out there.

    Cheers

    Hi,

If you cannot afford a decent air filter that will filter properly then you obviously think your engine is not worth it. When it comes to oil and air filters, you should buy the best product for the job. Anything less can compromise your engine.

Don't be a tight arse. Look after your engine.

K&N pod filters start at about $70 and even the larger pods are only about $90 - $100 at Autobarn.

Don't bother with the ultra cheap shit no name chicken mesh crap.

^^ As above I got my Autobarn to order in a K & N filter to my specified size from the US as there were none in that size in Australia still only cost $60-70.

I previously bought a supercheap one, attempted to fit it when stretching it slightly over the 80mm piping it broke. Took it back & got a refund.
