Default coilovers / shock cartridges / suspension questions

    Hi Guys

I just received my 2 cartridges from Linden (thanks mate) for my 2 front JIC coils,

I have heard a few times on the net that when coilovers/shocks etc lay on their side for a while (horizontal) they need to be sat upright for a certain amount of time to let "air" bleed out of the innertube or something like this otherwise they car fuckup if used straight away ?

Is this just a true or false ?

    Cheers

    John

Put them in the car, sit the car on axle stands overnight with suspension at full droop, job done.

    never heard of it,

i dare say its just a myth as there have been plenty of times ive swapped inserts and sent the car away within 2hrs with no problems to date.

if your worried fit them in the housing and jack the car up and down 5 times, air will bleed out in no time.

    Cheers

most suspension places ive been to store everything they have flat...

that and if air can get in then other nasty things can too? i sorta thought they were sealed

Suspension places normally put them in asap and send the car back on the road with minimal downtime. Majority of shocks fitted in this manner work well.

Thinking about it a guy that works for Bilstein sold me some tokicos a few years back and he told me to prime them by turning the upside down and pushing them all the way down and letting them come all the way back to full lenght a couple of times. It wont do any harm.
