    Default microtech lt-8 for 2t/3tgeu

    Hi guys,
Just finishing off my 2t/3tgeu build and am looking at running microtech lt-8 for fuel and ignition.
now the ECU was on previously on a wrx my00.
The thing is to get it to run with the 2t/3tgeu I guess I will need a base map put on it for the 2tgeu.
Apart from that is there anything else I'll need.
I called mazfix who do the the ECU stuff and the guy said I'll need to send it in to get new chips put in (WTF?) and a base tune for 450....
should a base tune just be enough? and can I take it elsewhere to do it?
    Thanks David

Call up microtech-I had an answer back for the same type of thing in 1 hr, they were brilliant to deal with.I forget what I had to do with mine,I think even though it was set up for a 3TG it still needed to be sent to Melb for the new base map to be installed. Just give them a call mate and im sure they will run you through the options

You don't "need" a base tune you just need the ECU to be configured for the 3T. The base tune is just values that'll allow you to turn the key and start the thing and drive it somewhere for a tune.

i.e. I assume on the WRX it was running a CAS and coil packs? your 3T won't be?? So they'll need to reconfigure the ignition side of things.

Microtechs are not able to be configured for different engines by the user which is why it's not always good value to pick up a 2nd hand one from a differently configured engine to what you plan to use i.e. CAS and individual coil packs on a 4 cylinder isn't going to work on a single coil distributor 4 cylinder engine regardless of the base map or spark/fuel values.

More info on the engine it was used on Vs your engine will determine whether it simply needs tuning (adjustment of values) or reconfiguration.

I gave the contact number on there website a call, which was Mazfix
and they said 450 to change chips and base map.
so the base map I should ask for is 3tgeu or 3t?

I would suggest that you talk to one of the ACT dealers for the Microtech computers and have them arrange the reconfigure and tune of the computer with Microtech. While it may be 4 years ago or so Jake Edwards organised mine - he sent to computer to micfotech, commissioned the car, so while even though I had done the wiring etc he checked things out - supplied a bosch BOV, tuned the car on his dyno, fixed a leak around the surge tank - and the whole job was around $450. My motor (1GGTEU) was also a little more complex as it had extensive modifications in the way of a single turbo replacing the twins, Ford TB, Ford Idle control, Ford TPS and Ford coil packs. In the end I had a car running like a bought one.

    Cheers Craig

He's running his dyno in Gus's workshop in Mitchell - Custom Mechanix.

Yeah Mazfix made a mirror site to steal business away, but as they are an official dealer, Microtech has done nothing about the site.

    The official site is:

    http://microtechefi.com/

Has its own forum and very helpful users!
