there is a time and place for everything.
if you want to post random ass pictures you find on the internet, just go and join up to somewhere like Performance forums, where that sort of thing is encouraged by the bogans.

Toymods is a club.
A friendly club for playing with cars, that is meant to be family friendly.
the forum is an extension of the club, and is provided as a free resource for those who are not club members.
as it is an extension, and often the public face of Toymods, the family friendly aspect must extend to, and be maintaned on the forum also.

Not safe for work = not safe for toymods.
Do you think you would not get a warning at your work if you sent that picture around? any serious company or government related organisation, it would be enough for a warning.
that means, it is not appropriate for Toymods, and not something that Toymods wants to encourage.

you are funny most of the time, but this is not a "funny forum".. it is a technical forum. and while your humour is appreciated at times, in this instance it is just totally inappropriate. you can go and be funny with ass images on non-car forums like PF

Surely if a photo of clothed buttocks offends, the hundreds upon thousands of usings of the words '****' and 'fuck' should be censored away from this family friendly venture?

Pretty sure some of the most disgusting things I have read have come from this forum, despite it being steeped in family values.

I for one wouldn't care either way. (filter or no)

Feel free to edit out the naughty words I have put in, although it may set the precedence for an all out editing of swear words spree across the forums.

I had been trying to keep my shit out of the threads where it doesn't belong - apologies for the lapse in this regard but I am genuinely interested in views on language and such.

With almost 11,000 subscribers these forums are not an easy task, for a handful of moderators, to keep in check all the time. Language and offensive items are a part of life, and one finds such things in books, magazines, movies and even in every day life. You'll hear people swear on the bus, in the street and sometimes at work. It is not something we will ever be able to remove from these forums.

I know of members as young as 15 who frequent these forums, and while they would be well aware of, hear and even speak foul language, I am sure their parents would probably find some words in these forums to be offensive.

But, everyone is different and therefore has their own internal trigger point of what is and is not acceptable. I regard "fuck" as a common and often used word, and it is used by both sexes and is spoken by people of all ages - so it doesn't bother me, unless it is used excessively in a single post or sentence.

The c-word is a different thing altogether. Most people do not use it and it is especially disliked by older people and females. The word occasionally pops up in posts, and I let the odd one go as it is not used too liberally. I much prefer it to be loosely camouflaged by spelling it as 'kent' or some other derivative.

So, I hope the above illuminates you to my particular stance on language. I am sure other people have different thoughts.

Also, remember, as these are public forums, the Board does receive the odd complaint or three regarding posts that are either offensive or break the rules. We look at the offending posts and make a determination on what action we will take. Usually we delete the post and, if it is really bad or majorly violates the forum rules, we also contact the offender and discuss the issue with them.

The biggest problem with you Tom is your inability to keep your posts out of the more serious sections of these Forums. Some people find your posts to be witty and highly amusing, others think it is insipid school-boy humour, and you are becoming tiresome.

Of course you are not the only one to post witty and funny posts, but everyone else seems to have some technical knowledge that they also offer these forums, and thus balances out their input. I don't think I have ever seen a technical post or anything like that from you, and this gives the impression that these forums are nothing but your playground to exercise your wit to a captive audience (although I think you are on the ignore list by quite a number of people). If you wish to be the clown and wit-meister of these forums I'd much prefer you to keep your posts to the non-Car section.

I have met you in person and I reckon you're a good and genuine bloke. I think the forums would be a slightly less fun place without some of your comments (even though at times I find some of them to be a tad foolish), and therefore ask if you could keep your razor wit and beguiling humour to the non-Car section..... please.

do you think that if you were looking at that pic at work, that it would not raise an eyebrow? if it was on the news.crap.au site, then maybe you could explain it away, but when taken out of context, it is still a chicks bum (barely) in a tight swimsuit.... there is nothing wrong with the pic per se , but it is taken out of context.

same as if you had saved a pic of bill hensons work, and were looking at it on your work PC...
when taken out of context, it is kiddie porn. in the context of on a news site, then there are mitigating circumstances.

my employers do not think that checking out swimsuit pictures of chicks arses (winners or not) on web forums, are an acceptable use of internet. if it flashed past while looking at a news site, then it would not be a problem.

but regardless if yopu posted the pic, or linked to it... why do you feel the obligation for an obligatory arse pic, in the forum members and feedback section of the forum, in a thread about the forums relocating???

None of its text content was acceptable or carried with it any merit to existing in this thread (Just like most of Tom's posts) Whilst we do not have a swear filter as such all things are tollerated within reason and evaluated - again, Just like Tom .
