    Default Forum search tweak

    Admins...

Can you please allow searching of 2 and 3 letter words in the forum?

I just tried to search for "RA28 V6" but this (along with a few other things i tried) failed as search words must be => 4 letters long.
This is very annoying when so many words that people will want to search for are under this.

    Thanks.

yup, use google. much more powerful.

RA28 is in the search capability.. but V6 isn't.... oh well...
maybe searching by the engine code will be more successful?

i dont know if this has been covered before ive had a little look , but is there anyway to effectively search some of the bigger threads for info.. namely aw11 owners anonymous and not get taken to the first page? – excluding searching by posts.
i feel much better now that ive given up hope

Im not sure if this is what you are after, but it sounds like you only want to search one thread at a time so thats what i have based this off.

At the top of the open thread, just above the first post, there are three options: Thread Tools, Search this Thread, Rate Thread. The second one will give you what you want and will only return results (showing up individual posts) from the thread.

If you actally search for "RA28 V6" it will not gve you a message about needing to be more than 4 characters long. The quotes make it a single thread that is being searched for, however I don't think yo will find anything interesting it finds about 11 pages of threads that mention RA28's but this looks like the only post that specifies RA28 V6.

But to answer yor question the search is the biggest killer for performance on Vbulletin so no we won't be enabling to search for 2 and 3 character words.

I didnt search with the quotes, i just did that in here to make obvious what i was searching for.
I did also try searching for engine codes, but people write them in so many different ways, and just searching for the revision and type (ie 1MZ) is also too short.

I thought that may be the reason... but i was hoping the new server would be beefy enough to deal with it
