Default Help me figure out my clutch problems [More problems!]

Ok well I have taken the 1jz out of my ma70 supra and looking at the clutch it is quite rusty. I haven't seen this before and am thinking its abnormal.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...3102008152.jpg

There is also the following damage on the pressure plate fingers:

I'm guessing this is caused by the clutch not being adjusted properly and the throwout bearing is constantly against the pressure plate. But the problem is the whole time i've had it (a few months) the friction point has been very low (maybe a couple cm's from the floor). So I dont understand why the pressure plate would be worn like it has.

The clutch is also very heavy. But from looking at it, it looks like a normal organic clutch. It is a PBR item so i'm guessing its heavy duty. This shouldn't be much heavier than stock should it? Could the rust be the reason its so heavy?

The gearbox is a w58 (it was sold to me as a r154 which i didnt check ) and doesnt have a sandwhich plate or clutch fork boot. So is moisture getting inside and rusting up the clutch components?

I will be getting a new clutch kit (from research it is a jza80 n.a. kit). But i need to make sure the above doesnt happen which is why i need your help

    No sandwich plate?!?! Bad idea.

You should be able to buy a new clutch fork boot from toyota though.
I want to do your engine conversion wiring for you, PM me.

they don't have one from the factory so why would it be a bad idea?

Also, the throwout bearing is the incorrect one for the job if it sits that far out on the springs, try to find out the correct one to suit your new clutch kit, 2jz NA is correct.

Ahhok. is that much wear normal tho? Its actually dug inside the fingers at least a couple mm's.

Yeah i don't think theres a sandwich plate but there is an inspection plate thats missing. Its also missing a clutch fork boot. Could this be causing the rust? and could the rust be causing the heavy clutch?

The incorrect throw ot bearing would be contributing to the heavyness of the clutch as you are not using a bunch of the leverage available to disengage it.

Well i have no idea wut the previous owner has done with this clutch setup

Can someone tell me what flywheel this is (pulled it off the back of the 1jz):

I figured it was a jza80 N/A flywheel but its got a 4bolt pattern (imperial bolts) for the pressure plate In fact i don't think any toyota has a 4bolt pattern.
Is there any other way of putting a w58 onto a 1jzgte that i dont know about?

Man if your missisn inspection plate that will be cotributing to the rust alot hash

As for the flywheel and pressure plate mine was a four bolt pressur plate on the 1g flywheel(not sayin its a 1g flywheel but its an exedy ) pretty sure neway

all 1j and 2j are imperial bolt pattern

    7m and 1g are metric

also that flywheel looks fooked looks like whoever owned it liked to ride the clutch

or is it jus surface rust cant tell from picture

    Nope.

    It isn't any 2JZGE I've ever seen...
    >No dowels for PP
    >Wrong number of bolt holes for PP
    >Ring gear sits proud of rest of 'flywheel'

    ....

What do 1jzge run in regards to flywheel is it the same as 2jzge? (I haven't checked EPC).

    ...Strange flywheel!

I wouldn't be worried about the surface rust...

TSRM shows what is 'normal' / max pressure plate wear...

I'm not sure what pressure plate it runs...Its has a pbr logo and some numbers..i guess i mite be able to ring aorund and find out....

The clutch guy thought it was a flywheel off a torana...does this have anything to do with how the holden guys use w5x gearboxes? maybe the holden flywheels have the same flywheel to crank bolt pattern?

I'm deciding whether i should just try and find NA supra stuff or find out what clutch to use on this flywheel.
