Default RT40 Drum to disc conversion?

Hey guys, just recently bought into the toyota family with the purchase of a 69 RT40 sedan.
My goal for the car is to keep everything original except for the performance. lol, obviously.
Thinking about maybe goin with an SR20det conversion but that will be sorted out later.
My first problem would be the brakes. Drums all round.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to change the front to discs?
The rear is not a problem as i have a hilux diff lined up.
Any info would be muchly appreciated.

    Cheers for your time guys.

Use RT81 disc brakes. Bolt in the whole stub axle, use the master, booster and proportioning valve. You'll need to make up some new lines.

Ther drums are just as good performance, except in water or racing and when the racing is more then autox gymkana drifting & drag, show & bling, otherwise they'll definitly can get overheated.
They might even be less weight - unsprung & rotating and will have a better E/parking brake!
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!

To be honest though, the RT81 discs brakes are small diameter solid discs with ordinary sliding calipers. I would use the hub and stub axle as a base for a more robust conversion, particularly with an SR20DET in mind.

Yeah was actually thinking bout that today.
any brake upgrades you would reccommend?
Also i was wondering what some of you guys think about the sr20 into the RT40?
Would there maybe be a better conversion that anyone can think of?

    cheers fellas.

Use the RT81 stub axle and hub. The find a suitable ventilated rotor around 280 -290 mm (out of the DBA catalogue) and then make a dog bone to take a decent caliper.

As for the SR20, makes sense. I know the 5 speed box is a little bulky and when they go into a 1200 ute, they typically require transmission tunnel work. I'd imagine same deal here. Best bet is suck it and see.

THe founder of the Corona Country forum has put an FJ20 into an RT40. There is also 20Valve 4AGE and 3TGTE conversions over there, but not a lot of details.

You're going to have to scour the wreckers. Occasionally a real shitter turns up on ebay. Beware, most RT81s have front drums.

I think the front brakes from a 69-71 RT72 Corona Mark II might also fit, but they are even rarer than RT81 in wreckers. GT, care to confirm?
