    i only use the forum during work hours and i dont notice it slow down till it gets close to 5pm. the rest of the times the forum is bearable

    Even during work hours for me, the forums appear to be quite slow. So much so that I've just stopped browsing toymods much at the moment, leading me to be forced into doing work

    It's teh mega slowness when PMs are present. Whatever is in the PM alert script involves an infinite loop methinks!!

    The big threads kill the database server.
    Someone with access to the MySQL DB needs to add a secondary index on the thread field in the posts table.
    Speed increase will be instantaneous...
    Alas if this has already been done by the Webbie/DB admin then we're fooked else profit.

    i volunteer to delete big threads :D

    (or at least go thru and delete old chitchat messages ;).. then move onto collating useful data and then summarising.. and killing the old big thread :D)
