    i thought they leaked enough oil past the seals to not need that

    (yar and i saw the comment.. i just figured it was usual for 2 strokes )

    All rotaries run a bit of oil in the fuel to keep the apex seals lubed up. They have an "oil injector" from factory but this is often ditched when engines are modified so the owner has to mix 2-stroke oil in with the fuel. It's an expensive mistake if you forget.
