Dumb question, can I do something like this to my TA22? Do I just need to source the parts from a later model celica & swap it all over?

    Yes and no.
I'm no TA22 expert, but in theory you could do this, or something very similar to this.
The real question is; Should you be doing it? Will it improve anything? I don't know enough about the TA22 to be able to answer that for you...
You will need to compare steering arms for starters. The whole point of this swap is to use the shorter Celica arms in the Supra to improve steering response and lock, with the added bonus of gaining a few degrees of natural camber and/or coilovers. If your TA22 arms are already shorter than the xA6x Celica arms then this will probably not be a good thing for you to do.

Ahhhhh the two local machine shops say that the steering arms would be exceedingly expensive/can't be done with a tapered hole?? Does it need to be drilled out to fit the balljoint taper too? Or can you just drill the hole bigger to suit with no taper?

They actually suggested milling down the ball joints to suit the existing hole...

They must just not want to do it. The hole needs to be reamed out so its bigger in diameter but still tapered.

They must be lazy then, how hard can it be to drill a hole?! I guess I'm on the hunt for a good machine shop in SA

Just to update this, I ended up getting the ball joints (BJ314) lathed down to suit the steering arms instead of drilling the hole, cost $20, worked a treat. It was just too hard to find someone local who was willing and cheap to ream the tapered hole out.

how far did you have to machine them? Im assuming not enough to affect the case hardening?

So if u have the celica struts they can pretty much go straight in apart from the ball joint? Thinking about doing this for for now untill I have funds to make the celica strut coilover setup cause its roughtly 1200 to make a proper set of coilovers with new shocks and camber tops

Anthony, If you wanted you could just use Celica struts onto the Supra arms (same bolt pattern for both strut bottoms) to give you a few degrees of natural camber and that would all bolt on. If you want to use the Celica arms you will have trouble with the ball joint.

Ke70, not much, it was very small amount of grinding, the difference between the BJ145 Celica and BJ314 Supra ball joints' taper is less than half a degree. Was only the pin that got machined, it doesn't foul any moving parts
