Default admin priveliges for members ride thread?

would it be possible to give the 'owner' (thread starter) of members rides thread, the ability for basic admin funcions like deleting threads or something?

just seen a lot of crap in peoples threads that they might like to be able to clean up for a better thread.

i know a lot of people love having their threads whored (hi mr1jz) but other people put a lot of effort into making their rides thread a tech article too.

anyway its just an idea i know that you can probably pm an admin to get posts deleted but i dont see any harm in allowing the thread starter to do it to their thread only.

It is possible, you can also assign it to select usergroups such as financial members only, sponsors etc etc.

Would make the mods job slightly easier, especially in the sales and car threads

    Hi,

Yes, it could be because of the limitation of our current version of VBulletin. Anyway, I'll find out.

i think a better idar is having it like whats on http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/index.php

you post a thread about you ride in Members Projects and only you can reply to.

then start a thread in Project Discussion then every Tom, Dick and Harry replys to asks questions and talks crap,
its HEAP nice look at a build up in the members projects and don't have to troll through 10 pages of crap talking
Time is priceless yet it costs us nothing.
You can do anything you want with it but you can't own it.
You can spend it but you can't keep it.
And once you've lost it, there is no getting it back, it's just gone."

River: VBulletin you currently have to pay for, correct?
Why not move to one of the free forums?
I run PHPBB3 and it runs great, I've seen some large forums run it as well (Size of toymods) so why doesn't the commitee look to this, to save some money?
I understand there's some fun and games converting from VBulletin to PHPBB3 (Or to any other forum for that matter) but I beleive I was looking at something on the PHPBB site that allowed conversion from VBulletin to BB3 format which was free, and simple to run.
    Possible?

Kyosho - I know one of the reasons we originally moved to VBulletin was for the fact that we could get ongoing maintenance/support for a product without having to worry about all the fiddly little hacks and one off customisations that seemed to constantly be needed with the old forums software. These weren't such a big deal when the people running the forums side of things had the time/know-how to look after it but over time as people move on it's been more important to find things that require as little intervention as possible

That being said I don't really know anything about PHPBB3 and don't speak for the Board anyway - just sharing some background

That sounds like an excellent idea in theory - might require another section (or sub-section) to be added to try and keep the front page as free from clutter as possible, but I think that's definitely worth a look..
    Cheers,
    Paul.
