Id be careful with doing that. The ABS is tuned for the particular model and it knows all the parameters (characteristics of that chassis altered by different options: weight and distribution, brakes, suspension) that can affect how the vehicle will behave. Yes, the fundamental 'prevent the wheel from locking up' is the same and the modulator will do its best regardless of what changes have been made to achieve this.

Change one of those and you do have the potential to cause issues. I do say potential as i have seen many cars with brake upgrades with no percievable issues - but then again i havent seen these people take their cars to a race track.

Any reason why you want to keep the ABS for a race car? Surely a decent driver would be able to perform better without it, and over here most regulations require that it be deactivated anyway. The only reason i would be using ABS is to obtain a factory wheelspeed sensor rather than having to graft one on. Id piss the rest of it off, some modules weight in the vicinity of 25kg (doubt that the IS would be that but thats a lot when it comes to a race car)

The ABS is independent of the engine ECU (and the body ECU). On the autos the ABS supplies the speed signal to the cluster and engine ECU but it doesn't affect ABS operation.
Replacing the ABS makes virtually no sense given it still works without any other ECU....

There has to be a reasonable amount of adaptability built into the ABS as some of the biggest variables are the easiest to affect - eg brake pads and tyres.

The only reason i want it is for rain, as we no it does that alot over here in the UK as it will be my first race season i would prefer to have the safety net of the ABS in wet conditions.

Mos - so the IS200 has a complete seperate ECU aswell ? Any idea where this is located. The whole wiring loom is out of the car now so i will just need to find it and rewire.

I cannot believe the amount of wiring in the car it is crazy. alot of weight as well. If worst comes to the worst i'll have to run without ABS and be super careful on those rainy days.

The power steering controller ? Is that complete seperate as well or will this be linked to either the 1jz/1g engine ECU ?

Thanks for the help guy really need it as you can tell

Picking engine up next week yippppppy

Based on this, I would ignore my earlier suggestion.

The turbos have ZERO play in there like new its crazy. What do a pair of these go for price wise ? Thinking of going striaght to the big single instead of trying these out first less hassle.

Well this project is still going just slowly, funds are very low and parts taking a while to arrive.

Just got some money so looking at getting a manifold.

Been looking at cheap Ebay ones just wondering your thoughts on them.

Has anyone bought any of ebay ? if so what are they like ?

    Been looking at this one

They are fine if you take the time to prepare them. They really need to be sectioned up, cleaned out and re welded. There will be a lot of welding slag and spatter inside ( that you cant see) that will release and go through your turbine at random times as they heat cycle for the rest of thier life. This has cost quite a few turbos amongst those who have used them, my first turbo included.
