    Chris,
I have done a few "budget" rear ends for customers.
Pictures of the rear would be nice.

But what we do is just weld a cut down coilover sleeve onto the center of the std spring seat of the axel (or arm) and then modify the upper to ensure proper seating. only issue with this is springs
we often have to have 3 or 4 sets made specificaly per car because it makes it very easy for them to unseat.

The real question is why you want rear hight adjustability, unless you have access to proper corner weighting gear its not needed,
The cost in doing it properly or ghetto by profesionals would be money better spent elsewhere
work out what sorta weight range and rough height you want and than get 3 or 4 sets made each side of this for some experimenting

when the car is finally back on the ground (long build), it will be heading to a race aligner to get everything all set up properly, including pinion angle, corner loadings etc....

the idea behind getting rear height adjustable is so that i can also get some made up for my daily driver aswell that will be heading to some shows, so would be great to be able to slam it at a moments notice with minimal effort....

i was looking more into the setups that bolt in place of the bump stops at the top seat, obviously to have new bump stops put in afterwards....

at current i run around 120mm ID for my rear springs (std ae86 id), so it really would be ideal if i could find a sleeve kit that size but think its highly unlikely....

road car, just get a second set of springs. rear coils on a live axel take all of 10 minutes to change. and its legal.
Any rear height adjustable setup on a road carwill be a pita. specialy once the threads get dirty

Hate to say it but your race car doesnt need height adjustable, its more trouble than it will be worth and the money would be better invested elsewhere.

My experience with adjusting ride height for corner weights is that you need to eliminate rubber bushings from the car and be running spherical bearings otherwise you wont have consistent measurements and adjustment.

I see alot of overengineering in aspecs of alot of "race" cars which is met by severe underengineering leading to reduced effectiveness in or even worse performance.

For instance adjustable rear ride height. but i dont forsee you running a modified 4 trailing link and watts link. on sperical bearings..

Ride height is one of the least effective adjustments to most cars on a bulk scale, eg out of all the alignment, suspention rates and tyre pressures..
if you chassing 1 hundreth of a second maybe but if you chassing a good feel and balance i doubt you will find it usefull at all

the car currently has no bushes what so ever....apart from shock mounts in the rear, the rest is all spherical bearing...5-link, castor rods, control arms, strut tops etc....

going from the advice of you guys, i think i will just get several pairs of springs in different heights to work out whats good etc...

i understand that building a "race car" is a long process of trial and error....

    thanks for the input

Get it out on the track before you start dicking around with rates etc.
From experience youll find that the AE chassis doesnt like heim jointed rear ends without VERY sticky rubber.

    Welcome to sideways into Northern.

im going to be running Yoko A048's at each corner, 205/50/15 on 15*8....so that should solve the sticky tires issues....

TTT do rear coilovers that bolt onto the lower shock mount.

    not interested in T3 junk...

and Ignition Proned Race Ae86....A048's will have more than enough grip to run a sub 1:27

I think he was refering to the grip levels required for the sperical bearings to be effective. a good option would be to run one end of your upper left and lower right arms as a eurethane bush to allow it some give. if not setup properly sperical bearings will give you far more greif than there worth.

The bolt on rear coil overs offered by T3 are not a good thing neither the body or the diff are deisgned to take the load

Sure, ive run a sub 1:27 out there before. Im more pointing out the fact that going into northern you will have the rear end step out on you because of the suspension setup you already have, let alone with coilovers.

But obviously you dont want to listen to people who have experience with the chassis.
