wiring diagram ra28

Did a search, no joy.

I'm after a wiring diagram of an ra 28 celica. Just like the genuine diagrams you get in the manufacturers hand book.

I'm putting back together my car, am having trouble with the wiring in the roof lining for the interior light, demister and boot light, having problem with head lights also.
And the spare plug location under the dash?

could any one help. Google is trying, he's my friend.....

the interior light works on the principle of there always being a +ve 12V feed to the light. then there is one wire going to the door open switches. these switches switch to ground when the door is open and so the light comes on as long (providing switch set to "DOOR")

then to override this the "ON" position gives a -VE from the car body.

so the 2 wires going to the interior are; the +ve feed (constant) and the ground for the door open switch

from what I remember ( car Is Not Nearby to check), the 1st lot of wires from the loom are for int light, 3 in all, now 2 of these are joined together 1 on its own, then theres the earth off the light onto the frame.

next wire down the loom is????? oh shit I cant remember..... 2 wires I think with bullet plugs? not sure what they are.

then there,s the demister wire (single) tis is earthed on the other side of therear glass to the lid. what gets me about this is the small wire for earth is on the passenger side and the end plug for the + is on the same side. should I have an extention of the + to go to the drivers side.

Is there a plug under the dash that I may not have connected, because I cannot get power to the loom.

Haynes manual contains a very good wiring diagram mate. Personally I dont use it too much for fiddly shit like lights, demsiter etc, a multimeter is a better tool. I usually just use it to sort out engine looms on unfamiliar cars (like the 22RE into RA60 I just did). But hey, i didnt become an electrical engineer without learning how to figure these things out. So yeah, if your after a good diagram, check the haynes manual, and use a multimeter to find earth wires, etc. 9 times outta 10, earth wire will be white with a black stripe.

I know what you mean Owen, I do normally use a m/meter also. but without changing any wires only disconnecting them , now I can't get power. Checked fuses. I know Itssomething simple but Can't put my finger on it.
Its stressing me for a quick fix because then I can put the roof-linning in, then the new carpet then the recaro's then the finish line for this overdue rebuild. ha.I feel better now!

I've checked out the Diagram.
youve got three wires from harness red, red & white X2
red, red & white joined, then to one wire on interior light (to include map lights.)
Is red/white for door swithches and red constant positive?
The other red/white to the other wire on light (door switches)
Then earth.

This is supposed to be simple, the light works dirrectly off the battery?
The test light shows power of the positive, though it dim.??????

Righto, i think your missing a plug. The 2 red and white wires plug into a common plug, which then goes to the door earth wire on the light fitting. The reason there are 2 of these wires is that you have 2 doors. If you had a 4 door car, then the wires would split from one to 2 in the same spot, and later down the track, each of those wires would split again. The red is battery and should go through a fuse. Check all your connections along the way, as a dirty old corroded connection will cause poor power. Instead of using a check light, use a multimeter, they will more accurately indicate the amount of resistance along the way. As a benchmark, check your battery voltage at the terminals when connected.
