Default Shopping for an f-series LSD

Im on a budget and need an LSD for my F-series IRS diff. Not wanting to get ripped off, what sort of money should i expect to pay. I am able to take the diff out of the car and it would also probably require a general overhaul as well. Ive heard many good things about the True Track LSD's but i think they might be out of my price range for now. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's about $750 for a new True-trak LSD shipped from the States.

Most OEM F-series LSD's are 20+ years old, so expect to rebuild it straight away if you want functioning LSD action. With that in mind the TrueTrac looks like a pretty good deal.

I am also looking for an F series LSD.

I was under the impression that you could get new LSD's from TRD for the F series.

Does anyone know how I can get onto one of these?

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

There are rumours that the Altezza/IS200 diff is compatible with the old F series, so in theory you could get a new LSD centre from one of them (I'm assuming they were available with LSD). I expect it would cost at least 3 times what a TrueTrac would cost though, so don't even consider this option.

I will possibly have another f-series to sell in a week or 2 if you're interested?

I called a couple of diff shops today. First one said i had no chance getting an F-series LSD and the other quoted me around $1600 for a KAAZ LSD so I guess the TrueTrack seems a bit more inviting now.

    - Draven: Yes interested, what exactly could you be offering?

What did you ask for exactly? Diff shops have told me there's no way you'll get an aftermarket LSD for an MA61 Supra, but then I asked for an LSD to suit an IFS Hilux front diff - oh sure we can get them no worries. You'd think a diff shop would know they're both F series diffs, but very few of them do.

So an LSD to suit an F series diff will suit ANY F series diff?

    IRS, IFS, Live axle??

    Thanks guys,

    Jeremy

Yup, the centres are interchangeable across any F series diff. The TrueTrac is technically designed for an IFS diff but many of us have them in IRS diffs, and Stitt has one in his live-axle Crown.

To make it as simple as possible for the technical department at the diff specialist, what year did the hilux go IFS?
