Default 5K Conv to Solid Lifters (food for thought!)

There is a toyota 5k solid lifter that you can use with 3k pushrods and 4k rocker gear! All bolts together!

Also found this: 5k solid lifter (pn 13751-61020)
    this cross-refed to Landcruiser 3f motor (late 80-early90's fj62,fj75,fj80etc....).

I know i will be doing this very soon once i have the car up and running...

    fantastic

when you grab some, can you compare weight to the 3/4K lifter, and also the 5K hydraulic? would be very handy to know (and compare to locked hyd's, or the chev lifter solution)

Just found out there are two types of 4K rocker gear, use 4K-C rocker gear, the 4KU/E rocker gear is the wrong height. You can use 3K alloy rocker gear but toyota later made them from to steel to stop changes in valve lash when the engine gets really hot.

the rocker shaft is a different height?
the steel/alloy ones have same rocker shaft height....

the 4KU/E has the dished head? maybe thinner head = different rocker gear?

    did the solid lifters fit?

Yeah the 4KU and E have a differnt post height.
The 4K-C and 3K-C have the same height.

    The lifters do fit.

Club-k.co.nz has lots and lots of useful information about the 4K-E and U engines.

    Hey Sean,
What head is used is it a b`port 3K or 5K. And i was planning to use 1 piece pushrods can buy them any length and they are super strong.
Only because 3K`s where im from are hard to find. I`m going to have to check if the 4k in shed and see if its a C. This is a stupid question how do i check?

Good find on the lifters sean.

    These are not my images,

Left is 4k solid lifter, next is 5k solid lifter, next is gutted out hydraulic lifter, 5k hydraulic last
Part number is for solid 5k lifters.

Most 5K's and 4K-U came out hemi-head with a 22.5cc combustion area in the piston (piston on left). These have a smaller combustion chamber in the head.

The piston on the right came out on some 5K motors, it has a 6cc dish. The head on this motor has a larger combustion chamber, not sure of height of this head but use this piston with a 3K bigport head, (acl piston kit with moly rings is p/n 4MKRY2892).

Oh and Kickn5k, 4k-c came from ke70, would have flat top pistons or a slight dish, other than that I wouldnt be able to tell you.

I dont have time to translate whole page.
    Here is some info:

-Mitsubishi Evo 9 injectors. Engine management by Hestec or Tatech.
    -Arrow solid lifters 50,8g each.
-Wiseco pistons 82,92mm and bore is 83,92. Weight 360g with rings. He also states that piston pin was off by 0.07mm for some reason. Originally pistons came 0,4mm too high from block deck.
-Original Wiseco piston pin weights 57,9g but he uses heavy duty ones that weights 80g.
-Camshaft is made by Kontkanen and model is R310 with 106 degree something. Cant remember the right term but intake and exhaust noses are 106 degree apart...
-Verdi connecting rods, 131mm long and weights 417,1g. For comparison, 4a-ge 122mm long rod with 42mm big end weights 530g and the 5K more beefier 120mm long rod weights 509g even after making these lighter...
-Oil pump is Genuine Toyota 5K. He states that there are two types of 5K oil pumps and it would good idea to use the long leg one.
-He uses 3K head which flows 161hp at 10mm lift.

    I hope this helps.
