    mate thats only a cool air duct for ur altinator, if ur not killing alterntors without it...dont worry about it, the 185s are pretty good for airflow through the engine bay....the 165s on the other hand..will go thru altinators like nothing else if you dont have cool air ducted to it, bottom line mate...u dont really need it on ur 185...

    indeed mine is running without it and has been for ~6months, no drama's so far.

    It also is quite heavy for what it is, so a bit of weight saving in it as well

    Paint it bright yellow - it'll be good for another 10hp at least!

    For a car that you drive normally most of the time you shouldnt need it. Toyota went over the top with ducting and cooling on these things so that they can survive having the arse rallied off of them.

    The 165 did tend to melt things quite a bit so they were pretty careful with the 185.

    Weight reduction.... About as much as if you skip the last course when you go out for dinner...

    Altinator = AltERnator.

    Weight reduction? that piece weighs two parts of fuck all!!

    The vent goes all the way down and draws cool air from under the car, just behind the radiator. I would say t will make a big difference to the life of the alternator, if for no other reason than it would provide some degree of shielding as the alternator sits right near the turbo.

    id prefer to get that pipe, if it save's me from gettin a new altinator later on down the track its worth it. The more cash i can save the better.
    Does anyone have one lying around?
