Question MKiv Supra to manual conversion.

fist is there anybody out there with experence driving a mkiv 2jzgte powered supra that has had a R154 tranny conversion. yes i know i should be using a v160/161 however they are as hard to find as rocking horse sh!t.
    i have a few questions,

do you still have to change the tunnel for the 5speed gearbox? or will it fit.

i see alot of people out there are using 1jzgte bellhousings and flywheels of lexus, what if you use a 2jzge housing and flywheel of a 94 manaul supra? are the 2j flywheels any diffrent? or will a 2jzgte flywheel fit under the 2jzge bell housing ?

this is the sort of thing im looking into getting : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-155140678.htm

that way it also has the remote already. and what rpm will i be sitting on at 60mph/100kph ( with petrol over here hitting the $2.05 mark per liter its time to start thinking about this )

    thanks guys
    Brendon

sorry, above is me posting from my bro's account accidently.

anyway, from the same site.. this is what you need.

and then it might be smart just to get a nice japanese aftermarket clutch kit (like a twin plate or spuer single, as they come with a flywheel)

shifter postion should be workable, i do know ant has fitted one of these to a turbo'd NA jza80 manual car.. which did continually break gearboxes..

Contact Aaron from Rampant Performance, he's bringing in 6-speed conversion kits all the time. This includes clutch, tailshaft, clutch pedal, trans tunnel, and all the other crap you need. Believe me it will save you a lot of headaches getting a complete kit.

Yes you do need to add the tunnel extension for the 5-speed (W58 or R154).

No you can't use the bellhousing or flywheel from a NA Supra, that's for a W58 and won't work with an R154. You need a flywheel, clutch and bellhousing from a 1JZ-GTE. Ideally from a JZZ30 Soarer because it will have the correct shifter position.

They are still able to be imported and complied. Having a look at the SEVS register and they only have 2 workshops listed and could have sworn there was more with the amount of places offering them for sale.

But i have noticed there have been a lot imported under the race/rally rule and at about $5k, why wouldnt you if you could actually use it as a race car.
