i believe it is been cooled/heated up constantly
just have to remember it will never be 'cooled' to below 80 degrees using the engine coolant
Does the standard oil cooler on a 2nd gen 3SGTE have a built oil temp thermostat that allows the oil into the cooler when it gets too hot, or is it being cooled constantly?
Cheers

Would it be plausible to say in a stock engine that the oil temp at the cooler will be the same as the coolant temp all the time?

its a heat exchanger so the water will be cooler than thermo stat if that helps
not all the time
cruising on the highway i would expect it to be very close to the same as the water temp
on the track i would expect it to be hotter, but i have never measured my oil temp..

you need to measure the oil temp with in the sump with a mechanical guage to see where it sits
