    Default AE82 4AGE distributor cap

OK so when I bought my dizzy, it didn't come with a cap. Thats OK
Good practice to get a new one, so, off to Bursons.

Bosch GD687 - no problems, come home, put it on - one of the screws that holds the cap down is in the wrong place - its out by about 3mm

Anyone else come across this wierd phenomena? I tried an old AW11 MR2 dizzy i had, it has the exact same problem...

Is there a difference between smallport and bigport distributor caps? Bosch catalogue doesn't list the AE92/3 SX so there's no smallport listing, however they do give a different cap part number for the AE86 (I'm assuming bigport)

The Bosch catalogue I've got (d/led from their website) lists the AW11 (twice actually), and both have the same GD687 cap as the AE82 Twincam.

the dizzy i've got is an ae82 / 86kw one.
the 100kw cap does not fit.
there is however a cap which looks like the 100kw one which is the echlin type.
my query has been recevied by bosch and i've sent them the picture as well.

The Echlin looks a lot better than the Bosch, was wondering why the HT leads were coming out axially on the Bosch....most likely wrong part, have you double checked to see if there is a part number embossed on the cap anywhere? Could be wrong part in right box.

Hiro, yeah there wasn't a number stamped into the dizzy cap.
We did cross check it in the book ; and ; it was the correct cap in the box.

I got my Echlin EP759 cap today - fits perfectly no issues at all. It is completely different with the leads coming out at right angles to the cap.

I've emailed Bosch to follow up the problem to which I've supplied them with pictures and part numbers from both an AW11 dizzy and my AE82 dizzy as reference (as well as the Echlin reference as much as they didn't want to hear that - i want to get my car running)

    So lets see what transpires.
