    Default 12a ke20

so i have a 73 ke20 (originally manual) and my friend has a 12a and box, unsure as what its out of. lets just imagine its a non hydraulic clutch linkage for now.

just wondering what problems arise when trying to fit said 12a (n/a carby).

    ones i can see are:
exhaust ports are on the other side so exhaust has to crossover
maybe tranny tunnel? needs to be beaten out or a new one made?
also read that there might need to be a custom sump made but i have no idea of the credibility of that in the slightest.

any info would be good. i know the basic fuel system/engine and box mounts/tailshaft and probs some cooling upgrades will be necessary so no need to mention that stuff.

    trans tunnel far too small.
does the KE20 even have an exhaust tunnel as such, or even a wider section? making an exhaust channel would be easy compared to the rest of it
sump/cross-member, should be fairly straightforward if it will fit or not.. probably not.

does the 12A haev front mounts or side mounts?

    12a mount off the front.
and the sump, you should be able to turn it around (assuming its the sump im thinking of)
this should give you clearance to the crossmembers.

    cheers for the replies.
im actually in guatemala at the moment so i havent seen it. cuts sounds pretty confident with front mount tho. thats good news about the sump too haha. i think the only problem wiht running the exhaust down the other side would be it fouls on a few things like wheel well etc. decent exhuast man should be able to sort that though so im not overly fussed.

does anyone know of any other problems other than the size of the trans tunnel?

i cant see it being hard, and as for the tunnel the 12a box cant be any bigger than the t50? and it fits in my tunnel with out doing any thing.

ex port will still be ok, jusy got to mount the zorst differently.

engine mounts, tailshaft, hydro clutch is easy look in my ride thread.

then wiring will be easy for carby, mount coils.

i dont think you will have any more hasseels than when i put the 3t into my 20 ( than being none)

    cheers,dan

haha loops, i know all about the pissweak diffs after the 4agze. i could change those diffs with my eyes closed!
i actually spoke to a bloke who said that the ke20īs can fit a early rx7 diff relatively easily.

as far as the trans tunnel is concerned, i was under the impression it doesnt fit coz the box has to be mounted higher

but yeh thanks for the replies guys. will let you know how it goes when i get back to aus.
