    Default Lakeside trackday

Yes thats right the 1st event is on tomorrow at lakeside raceway.
After years of fighting with the local council it all kicks off tomorrow the 27th of Feb.
I am happy to say that i am 1 of the lucky few who will be there having a run in my WRX along with a host of Lamborghinis, Ferrarias, GT2+3 Porsches and some other euro exotics.
The day kicks off at 930 am and spectators are encouraged to come along. Unfortunately there will not be any canteen facilities available so bring your own food and drinks.
If you do come along come say hi i will be in the blue WRX

So how was the day? I'm curious to know what some of the speeds are around the track to see how it compares to QR. Will obviously be more interesting, a 7m wide track with no run off will do that

Yeah what an awesome day. It was held on the Wednesday not on thursday.
I had a pretty good run throughout the day with the exception of this little moment
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZCmTRr9YwE
    It was at about 180kmh.
the rest of the day went well with speeds of about 200kmh through the kink in my car.
There was no timing in place for the day as it was a practice day. The track is in pretty poor condition but when it is resurfaced it will be sensational. It really is a drivers circuit with a lot of very technical aspects to it and there is definately no comparision to the
    big "paper clip" at willowbank
Here is another clip from the day.

Not true, turn 1 at QR is 77* and turn 2 is 112*

I was there a few weeks back helping out and the surface from where I was standing (the kink) was looking pretty good for something that was layed over 10 years ago. Since there would have been no rubber down it would have lacked a lot of grip.

Yeah there was not a lot of grip at the start of the day but as the sessions went by it became better.
The real issue is where they have patched the circuit mid corner on some sections so when you turn in you have grip then mid corner you have no grip at all.
When it does get resurfaced later this year as planned it will be a sensational circuit again.
