    Default 4AGE Turbo choices

I have 2 Garrett Turbos on my desk
    Both are Nissan T series
    I have a T25 and T25G (i beleive)
One has a considerably larger compressor housing but houses what looks to be a smaller wheel
The smaller housing may have a larger wheel also the housing i sung further over the wheel and looks generaly better
Both have the same exaust AR and are identical,
Just the compressors are different one AR is 80 on 60.

Which would be better for a 4AGE. im not really clued up on turbo choices. but have a mate who works for a "go fast work shop" who does alot of turbo crap helping me out when i get in real trouble

The T25G would be the better turbo. Do you have the part numbers or know what engine they came off? T25 are common on CA18 and T25G on S13 SR20.

If you use one of these it is really easy to upgrade to a GT28RS latter on.

only difference between the 2 are the AR ratios and the compressor housing size.
No part numbers etc stamped into them

    differences between a T25 and T25g?

The larger wheel but with smaller housing. is supposedly a T25G off a altessa bluebird 4wd

doesnt the t25g have a higher turbine a/r as well?

i was prity damn happy with the t25 on the feral, and was going to try and find a t25g to make a hybrid (if possible) of the t25g compressor and t25 turbine....

think i'll just save up for a gt2560 some year.

    Im now totaly confussed.
How are the compressor/exaust wheel measured
Is the InD the upper end (that sits inside the intake tube) and the EXD the bottom flat edge?
    If so i have a hiflowed T25.

    Pics to explain soon

Left is the turbo i will be using right is a T25 compressor Wheel

Left is the housing i will be using. right is the larger housing but for smaller wheel the intake is the same ID at the edge but the one on the right tapers back in before curving out for the compressor wheel

    Inside of compressor housings

    Left hand compressor dimensions
    71mm external
    53.2ish Internal

    Right hand is
    60 external
    46 internal

use the smaller wheel with the large housing if you want something responsive or the larger wheel if you can handle having the boost threshold later in the rpm range.

71 is the exducer of the comp wheel and 53.5 is the inducer size

this is reversed for the turbine side as the larger number is the inducer and the smaller number is the exducer.

turbobygarrett.com has some good tech articles if you feel like doing some number crunching.

    cheers

Ok the T25G you've got has either been hiflowed or something as the 71/53.2 wheel measurements are the same as the front wheel on the 56trim GT2871R which is good for about 250 rear wheel bananas. though it's likely an older style T04 B or S trim wheel as it's got 7 main blades

the other is just a 60Trim T3 front wheel so no real news there.

bang on the larger one. for +180RWkW or the smaller one for up to 180WkW.

    shit thats alot of Horses,
Is the larger gonna lag heaps? that will piss me off.

Is it worth getting better compressor wheel and running the larger turbo.

Im commited to Pushing along 200 horses and i dont want to be frying the turb in the process. should I rebuild the hiflowed T25G and sell it on and use that money to find a more intermediate sized turbo?
